Lovable Leftovers

9 Mar

This may seem like an odd question, but when was the last time a to-go box left an impression on you? I’ve seen my share of “doggy bags,” and the ones that I still recall are from restaurants that took the time to personalize the packaging of my leftovers.

It’s true that most of the time we’re just taking these items home, but how much more fun is it to open a nice bag (perhaps branded with the restaurant’s logo in case you’re walking around town after your meal) and find a box that’s marked with the name of the dish and the date you ordered it? First of all, it’s really helpful for those who may have several boxes of leftovers in the fridge with no recollection of which was put there before the other. Secondly, you remember the personal touch that went into labeling your to-go box. Believe it or not, you do remember this when deciding whether or not to revisit a restaurant.

I’ve been to some restaurants that actually add extra bread and butter into the bag or a small cookie or candy for after the meal. Needless to say, this earns big brownie points!
