Last Day to Enter 3 Blind Wines Contest

9 Oct

Have you entered to win the VIP Prize Package to the Oct. 16 Three Blind Wines event yet? Tuesday is your last chance! Just email liz@eatingoxford.com with your name, phone number, and your favorite food to pair with red wine.

A winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday, October 10.

If you’re selected, your wine will be waiting for you at the event—either a cabernet sauvignon or tempranillo—from the Matchbook collection of Northern California-based Crew Wines.

And for those looking for tickets to the event, go here.

Wine descriptions from the Crew Wines site:

Matchbook Cabernet has layered aromas of violets and cloves with dense blackberry, Bing cherry and cranberry. Bright cherry and chocolate, clove, mint and firm tannins are prominent. The lingering finish is a rich blend of cherry truffles, cedar and spice. The full-bodied red wine has loads of chewy chocolaty tannins, but with very elegant aromas of violets. Pair with red meat such as a pepper-crusted seared rib eye.

The Tempranillo and Graciano vines grown in the Matchbook Vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills are from cuttings imported from the Pesquera region of Spain. While the traditional earthy and spicy flavors are evident from these old-world varietals, the Matchbook Tempranillo shows its California upbringing in the expansive aromas of blueberries, spice and herbs of Provence. Rich flavors of red and black berries, cinnamon and clove are followed by toasted oak, vanilla and cocoa powder. Fine integrated tannins hold it all together in this seamless, well-balanced wine. Serve with spicy tapas, prosciutto and figs, or a favorite pesto dish.
