Mimosas at Sunday Brunch?

30 Jan

The Colonel’s Quarter’s at Castle Hill, which, as you know, has been taken back over by original owners Jean and Randy Abrams, is now open exclusively on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. (the bar and lounge is open from 10:30 a.m. until midnight).

The new menu, which can be viewed here, includes items such as crab cakes; fried green tomato BLT; eggs benedict; shrimp and grits; turkey and dressing; filet mignon and bananas foster.

And, since The Colonel’s Quarters is inside Castle Hill Resort, alcohol is available on Sundays, making it the only place near Oxford where you’ll find mimosas at Sunday brunch.

Castle Hill Resort for Sale

27 Jan

For a mere $2.5 million, you could own Castle Hill Resort & Restaurant and all of the amenities–including the restaurant–that go along with it. The gorgeous B&B just off Highway 6 that opened around five years ago is now up for sale. The listing states that the sellers are offering attractive owner financing and are open to partnership development deals.

I really hope that whoever takes the property over keeps the restaurant going; there’s an excellent Sunday brunch that I’d hate to see disappear. I also hope for more consistent restaurant hours; I’ve driven out to Castle Hill on more than one occasion during normal operating hours and found the doors locked.

UPDATE 04/10/10: Castle Hill has a new owner and is now named Castle Hill Resort & Club. Dining hours start at 6:00 p.m. with a menu prepared by new chef and native Mississippian Hal Rusk. A Southern-Style Sunday buffet and brunch a la carte will also be available. The new menu has not been made available yet.
