Tallulah’s Kitchen Closing

9 May

After a year and a half in business, owner Laurie Stirratt has decided to close Tallulah’s Kitchen.

From Tallulah’s Facebook page earlier today: “I have decided to close down Tallulah’s Kitchen. This has been a hard decision for me to make. There are a multitude of reasons for my decision, which I won’t bore you with. I want to thank you all for your patronage and support. My staff and I have loved serving you and we will miss seeing you all up here at Tallulah’s Kitchen. We will be open our regular hours this week or until we run out of food! So come on up if you can.”

I know I speak for a lot of Oxonians when I say, we’ll miss you Tallulah’s!

Help an Oxford Favorite Expand

26 Apr

This summer, Tallulah’s Kitchen owner Laurie Stirratt has plans to expand the restaurant by adding an enclosed dining area and a new deck (a liquor license is also being obtained).

In an effort to raise funds for the project, Blue Mountain (a collaboration between Laurie and longtime bandmate Cary Hudson) will perform this Friday, April 29, at Proud Larry’s after the Double Decker festivities on the Square end.

The band will set up a merchandise booth, which will offer a variety of rare Blue Mountain memorabilia for sale: CD’s, posters and “bric-a-brac”. All proceeds from the sale will go directly to the Tallulah’s Kitchen buildout fund.

8 Feb

Wednesday, February 9, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., a new food/travel show will be filming an episode at Tallulah’s Kitchen on University Avenue.

The show will be highlighting Tallulah’s Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya, but an additional list of menu items will also be available for patrons at half price: fried catfish; slow-smoked pulled-pork sandwich; crab, shrimp and andouille gumbo; red beans and rice; a choice of vegetable sides; and, if they have time, fried chicken for the plate of the day.

Entertainment will be provided by Cary Hudson, and the porch will be heated for your comfort.

Students Get $1 Off at Tallulah’s

1 Jun

During the month of June, Tallulah’s Kitchen is offering $1.00 off any plate for students who show their student ID when placing an order. If you can’t use those things for discounts, what are they good for, right?

While you’re there, check out the new vegetable garden that just went in and watch for the debut of the Tallulah’s Kitchen website coming soon at www.tallulahskitchen.com.

Tallulah’s Replaces Catfish One

9 Feb

Don’t be alarmed when Catfish One and Tallulah’s Kitchen close at the end of this week. Tallulah’s Kitchen will be reopening; Catfish One officially closed the window of its Oxford location this past Saturday.

Below is the official word from Tallulah’s Kitchen owner Laurie Stirratt (taken from the Tallulah’s Facebook page):

“Starting this Tuesday, Tallulah’s will be the sole operator out of the Catfish One Kitchen. The Oxford Catfish One store is officially closing their doors on Saturday February 6th at 8:00 PM. We will be open Tuesday-Thursday from 11AM-4PM  and Friday-Sunday 11AM -8PM this week. We will then close to regroup, retool the menu just a bit and change over the space officially. Tallulah’s official grand opening will be on March 1st. We will still serve our present menu but will add some new entrees and bring back some old ones, too. I will post a menu for the official grand opening when it’s complete. I want to thank everyone for their continued support. I have big plans for the spring and summer! Come see us next week and keep in mind our March 1st official grand opening.”
