In addition to an upcoming wine pairing, Ravine co-owner Joel Miller has announced the debut of a fresh, new website for the restaurant. Along with information about Ravine and local purveyors, you’ll also find links to a new winter menu and Wednesday tapas lineup.
As for the next wine pairing, scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, at 6:00 p.m., Miller and Shanna Flaschka have chosen the theme “Opposites Attract” and will be pairing wines with foods not typically considered to be a match.
Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 662-234-4555. Cost is $30 per person.
This Saturday, November 12, Ravine is having a casual wine and food pairing. Instead of a structured event starting at 6:00 p.m., you can come and go at whichever time you choose (reservations required).
There will be five wines, each paired with food, such as crab and fried green tomatoes, braised short rib ravioli, and spicy potato leek soup—all for just $20.
Contact Ravine at 662-234-4555 for more information and reservations.
According to an article by Alyssa Schnugg in today’s Oxford Eagle, “Local celebrities will take orders, serve customers and entertain for tips Thursday during the American Cancer Society’s Celebrity Waiter fundraiser. The event will be held at The Ravine at the cost of $60 a person for a three-course meal. Several seating times are available, starting at 6 p.m. Local celebrities who have agreed to be waiters and waitresses include Sam and Mary Haskell, author Neil White, University of Mississippi tennis coach Billy Chadwick, actress Joey Lauren Adams and former NFL football player Todd Wade.”
Seats are still available. If you’re interested, tickets can be purchased through any of the celebrity waiters or by contacting Kate Rosson, community representative for the ACS, at 662-801-0340 or via email at email@example.com.
In early February I mentioned the unveiling of a new tapas menu at Ravine. It’s now in full swing and offered exclusively on Wednesday evenings teamed with half-carafes of wine.
The complete menu is available online here and lists such items as a cheese plate with Bottletree ciabatta; hummus with housemade naan; beef tenderloin mini burgers; house ground beef and pork meatballs; fish tacos and crawfish beignets.
Prices on the Wednesday tapas menu range from $3 to $8.
This Thursday, February, 4th, new artwork from Keith Wiseman is going up on the walls at Ravine.
In celebration of Wiseman’s photographs being hung, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., providing a preview of the new tapas menu that will be a regular Wednesday offering.
For more information, call Ravine at 662-234-4555 and tell them EatingOxford.com sent you.
